Transpiration:

  1. It is the loss of water as water vapors from the aerial parts of the plant.
  2. Transpiration is the phenomenon of the evaporation of water from the plant surface.
  3. It is mainly through the stomata (90%).
  4. Various environmental factors like temperature, light, wind, humidity and internal factors like the structure of the leaf and root-shoot ratio affect transpiration.
