The figure shows a circle with centre O and radius 4cm. \(\angle\) BOD = \(72^\circ\). A point is selected at random inside the circle. Find the probability that point lies inside the sector.

Area of circle
= π×(4cm)2
= 16πcm2
Sector is subtending an angle of 72.
area of sector is

= 72360×area of circle

= 15×area of circle

Hence area of sector = 165πcm2

Probability, P(point lies inside the sector)

= 165π16π

= 15
