At t=2 sec, the positions of both the pulses are separately shown in Fig. (a) and Fig. (b);


By the definition of Principle of superposition, displacements due to both the pulses from x=0 to x=1 will get added up and the resultant shape of the pulse is shown in the Fig. (c).
