Solution

The correct option is A 286000

For Candidate A, number of votes received in 2009 = 30% of 260000 = 78000

Similarly

In the elections of the year 2019:

Percentage of the number of votes received by candidate A = 20%

Percentage of the number of votes received by candidate D = (5 + 50 + 20)% = 75%

Required difference = (75 – 20)% of 520000 = 55% of 520000 = 286000

Hence, 286000 is the answer.
