R represents a hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon chain/ring
R’ and R” represents a hydrocarbon chain/ring

In ketones, the carbon atom bonded with oxygen atom is connected to two other carbon atoms. In aldehydes, the carbon atom bonded with oxygen atom is connected to one carbon atom and one hydrogen atom or both hydrogen atoms.

Therefore, compounds given in option (a) and option (b) belong to the family of aldehydes and the compound given in option (c) and option (d) belong to the family of ketones
