Length of first rail track = 18 yards
Length of second rail track = 6 yards shorter than 18 yards
= 18 − 6 = 12 yards
Length of third rail track = 5 yards longer than the first one
= 18 + 5 = 23 yards
So, the length of the second rail track is 12 yards and it is the only track shorter than 17 yards.
