The first term of an A.P. is 2 and the last term is 50. The sum of all these terms is 442. Find the common difference.
Given,
a = 2
l = 50
∴ l = a + (n - 1)d
50 = 2 + (n - 1)d
(n - 1)d = 48 ....(i)
Sn of all n terms is given 442
∴Sn=n2[a+l]442=n2[2+50]
Or n = 17 ...... (ii)
From (i) and (ii)
d=48n−1=4816=3
The common difference is 3.
