Solution

The floor of a room 10m×6m.

Step I: Find area of floor.

So, the area of the floor =10m×6m [Area=length×breadth]

=60m2

Step II: Find length of the carpet.

The floor is to be covered with carpet 1mwide.

Total length of the carpet required =areaofcarpetwidth

Area of carpet =area of the floor

So, length of carpet =601=60m.

Step III: Find the cost of the carpet.

The cost of carpet for 1 metre =45.

So, cost of carpet for 60m =60×45

=2700.

Therefore, the length of the carpet is 60m and the cost of the carpet is 2700.
