Question

The focal length of a concave mirror is 0.15 m. What will be its radius of curvature?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1:Given data

The focal length of a concave mirror, f=0.15m

According to sign conventions, the focal length of the concave mirror is negative

Therefore f=-0.15m

Step2:Finding the radius of curvature, R

the radius of curvature, R is related to the focal length of the mirror as

R=2f

on substituting the values, we get

R=2×(-0.15)=-0.3m

Hence, the radius of curvature of the concave mirror is -0.3m
