Solution
The correct option is C120cm
For the mirror M1, u1=−20cm f1=+20cm
Using the mirror formula, 1v+1u=1f, we have 1v1+1−20=1+20
⇒v1=+10cm
For M2 u2=−40cm(∵P2I1=40cm) f2=−30cm
Using the mirror formula, 1v+1u=1f, we get, 1v2+1−40=1−30 ⇒v2=P2I2=−120cm
∴ image distance from pole of mirror M2 after second reflection is 120cm.
Why this question ?In the case of a combination of mirrors, the image formed by first mirror actsas an object for the second mirror andthe second mirror will form another image.
