The focal length of the objective and eyepiece of a microscope are 2 cm and 5 cm respectively and the distance between them is 20 cm. Find the distance of object from the objective, when the final image seen by the eye is 25 cm from the eyepiece.

From lens formula,

1u=1ve1fe=12515

ue=256 cm

Distance of real image from objective,

v0=20|ue|=20256

=120256=956 cm

Now, 1f0=1v01u0

1u0=1v01f0=1(956)12

=69512=1295190=83190

u0=19083=2.3 cm
