Arranging the data from least to greatest.
$3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12$
Median is the middle number $7$
The first quartile is the median of the data points to the left of the median.
i.e. $3, 4, 5$
$Q_{1} = \frac{4 + 5}{2} = \frac{9}{2} = 4.5$
