The image depicts an artificial vegetative propagation technique of tissue culture. A very small tissue from any of the plant part is grown in laboratory conditions such that a complete plantlet arises from it. This plantlet can then be transferred to soil and it grows to become a mature plant. This method is also known as micropropagation. It has the following advantages:

  1. Production of exact copies of the parent plant with desirable characteristics.
  2. Produces multiple plants in the absence of seeds or pollinators.
  3. Production of plants in sterile conditions reduces the chances of transmission of plant diseases.
