The following ingredients are required to make halwa for 5 persons:

Suji/Rawa = 250 g, Sugar = 300 g

Ghee = 200 g, Water = 500 mL.

Using the concept of proportion, estimate the changes in the quantity of ingredients, to prepare halwa for 60 members. [4 MARKS]

Solution: 1 Mark each

Using the direct proportion condition,

Rava quantityPersons=2505=n60

n = Quantity of rava required. = 3 kg

Similarly,

Quantity of sugar required
=60×3005=3.6 kg

Quantity of ghee required
=60×2005=2.4 kg

Quantity of water required
=60×5005=6 litres.
