The formula for mode is given by,
Mode=l+f1f0(f1f0)+(f1f2)×h,where,
l = lower limit of modal class
h = size of class interval
f1 = frequency of modal class
f0 = frequency of class preceding modal class
f2 = frequency of class succeeding modal class

So, p = l = lower limit of modal class
And, q = f1 = frequency of modal class.
