Solution

(a)
Total valid votes polled=720Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Raj =80°Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Raj =Number of votes obtained by Raj Total valid votes polled×360°80°=Number of votes obtained by Raj 720×360°Number of votes obtained by Raj =80×720360=160

Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Albert =100°Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Albert=Number of votes obtained by Albert Total valid votes polled×360°100°=Number of votes obtained by Albert 720×360°Number of votes obtained by Albert=100×720360=200

Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Suja =60°Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Suja=Number of votes obtained by Suja Total valid votes polled×360°60°=Number of votes obtained by Suja720×360°Number of votes obtained by Suja=60×720360=120

Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Nashima =120°Central angle of the number of valid votes obtained by Nashima=Number of votes obtained by Nashima Total valid votes polled×360°120°=Number of votes obtained by Nashima720×360°Number of votes obtained by Nashima=120×720360=240

We can see that Nashima obtained the maximum number of votes, i.e. 240.
Therefore, Nashima won the elections.

(b) The minimum number of votes is 120 and these votes were obtained by Suja .

(c) The nearest contestant to the winner is Albert and he obtained 200 votes.
Therefore, Nashima defeated Albert by (240-200), i.e. 40 votes.
