The incoming light from a distant object hit the concave mirror and are converged toward the plane mirror placed at an angle to the mirror. The rays are then directed upward (perpendicular to the mirror) which then pass through the convex lens (the eyepiece). The viewer's eye is placed in front of the eyepiece to see the magnified image of the object.
