Solution

Step 1: Completing the table

The sum of the number of students and the product of mid-values and the number of students is computed.

It is filled in the table as below,

MarksMid values (xi)Number of Students (fi)(fixi)
0-1051260
10-201518270
20-302527675
30-403520700
40-504517765
50-60556330
Total ∑fi=100∑(fixi)=2800

Step 2: Finding mean

The formula to find the mean is Mean(x¯)=∑(fixi)∑fi.

where ∑fi is the total frequency and xi is the mid-values of the clas-intervals.

To find the mean marks scored by a student in-class test, apply the mean formula

⇒x¯=2800100∴x¯=28

Hence, the mean marks scored by a student in-class test is 28 marks.
