The force acting per unit surface area is called Pressure and its S.I. unit is _______.
F is the compressive force (thrust) acting on the area of cross-section A, such that P is the pressure. In SI system, force is measured in Newton (N) and area in meter square (m2). Therefore, the unit of pressure is Newton per meter square (N/m2). However, Newton per meter square is called pascal, in honour of French physicist Blaise Pascal.
