Question

The formula for the volume V of a sphere is given as V=43πr3.
a) Find V if r=5 cm.
b) Make r the subject of the formula.
c) Find the radius of a sphere of volume 2500 m3.

Solution

a) Volume, V=43πr3

=43×π×53

=43π(125)

V=500π3cm3
b) As we have V=43πr3

r3=34πV

r=(34πV)13

c) Since V=43πr3

2500=43×227×r3

r3=2500×34×722

r3=625×3×722
r3=596.590

r=3596.590

r=8.41 m
