Embryonated or infective eggs are the 2nd stage larva, which gets transferred to the host through contaminated food and drinks. It first enters the host intestine and penetrates the intestinal wall, reaches the liver and then to the heart and from the heart, through the pulmonary artery, reaches lungs. Here, it settles down and undergoes two moultings one after the other. After third moulting, it again migrates to the intestine. Inside the intestine, it moults for the last time, which is its 4th moulting and assumes the adult form after development.
