In Solanaceae family, the fruits are either berry/bacca or septicidal capsule.
Berries usually have a thin epicarp fused with the thalamus to form the skin or exocarp, fleshy mesocarp and a thin endocarp. They usually develop from a superior ovary and their seeds get detached from the palcenta at maturity.
Capsules develop from multicarpellary syncarpous, superior ovary and rarely from inferior ovary. In septicidal capsules longitudinal slits appear along the middle of the septa.
