The parents of Mendel’s dihybrid cross are pure lines and are homozygous for both characters. One parent having the genotype (YYRR), crossed with the parent of genotype (yyrr). Hence they produce two type of gametes, (YR) from the homozygous parent with the dominant trait and (yr) from the homozygous parent with the recessive trait.
