The gap between two communicating neurons is termed as _____.
Synaptic cleft
A synapse is formed by the membranes of a presynaptic neuron and a postsynaptic neuron separated by a space between them, called the synaptic cleft. This is the region where the vesicles present in the axon terminals of the presynaptic neurons release the neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters then diffuse across the cleft and bind to receptors on the postsynaptic membrane.
