Greater are the intermolecular forces of attraction, more easily the gas can be liquefied, and higher will be the critical temperature. Higher the critical temperature of the gas, the greater is the amount of gas adsorbed. SO2 has strong dipole interactions while other gases only have weak van der Waal forces.
