(b) State the reason for the high hydrostatic pressure in the glomerulus.

Solution

An efferent (outgoing) arteriole is narrower than the afferent (incoming) arteriole. This causes high pressure to the liquid part of the blood to filter out from the glomerulus into the renal tubule.
