The tricuspid valve (a) is in the right side of the heart, between the right atrium and the right ventricle. The pulmonary valve is in the right side of the heart, between the right ventricle and the entrance to the pulmonary artery. The artery carries blood from the heart to the lungs. When deoxygenated blood flows from the right ventricle through the pulmonary artery to the lungs, the tricuspid valve closes and the pulmonary valve opens.
