Question

The given information shows the production of a product on certain days. Find the missing term (in thousands) based on the given data, if it represents a linear function.

  1. 59

Open in App
Solution

The correct option is A 59
From the table, we observe:

For time = 0 day, Production (in thousands) = 27
For time = 5 days, Production (in thousands) = 35

So, rate of change = m=35 275 0=85=1.6

For time = 0 day, the production is 27,
that means y-intercept is 27

A linear function is always represented
by the equation of a straight line, as
y = mx + c

So, putting values, we get:
y=1.6x+27

For x = 20,
y=1.6×20+27=59.

Therefore, for 20 days the production
will be 59 thousand.
