Solution

The correct option is A Share of each person is 1163 lb
Weight of ice cream (lb) Frequency
(Number of people)
Weight of ice cream (lb)
17 3 3×17=3×17=37
117=(1×7)+17=87 4 4×87=4×87=327
2114=(2×14)+114=2914 2 2×2914=2×2914=5814
Total =9

Total amount of ice cream purchased =37+327+5814 lb
37,327, and 5814 are unlike fractions. Convert them into like fractions by finding the equivalent fraction of 37 and 327 with denominator 14.

37=3×27×2=614

327=3×27×2=6414

So, total weight of ice cream purchased =614+6414+5814=12814 lb

Total number of people in the group =3+4+2=9
If all the purchased ice cream is distributed among the group equally, then share of each

person = Total amount of ice cream purchased ÷ Number of people in the group
Share of each person =12814÷9

By using the concept of keep change flip:
12814÷9=12814×19=128126=6463=1163 lb
