The given reaction is a Friedel craft reaction which is one of the electrophilic substitution reaction.
In both (a) and (b), acylium ion is formed due to the presence of acyl chloride group which further undergoes electrophilic substitution with the respective benzene derivative to give the desired product.

But in (c), the electrophile formed is a alkyl carbocation and it gets attached to the ortho position of the methyl group because this ring is activated by the presence of +I effect of methyl groups. Here, both the methyl groups and keto group reinforce each other and direct the electrophile towards same position. Thus, reactants of (c) gives a different product.
