Solution

(i) Glomerulus:

  1. The glomerulus is a part of the nephron that acts as a filtering component of the kidney.
  2. It has three layers of the filtration membrane through which the blood is filtered in order to form urine.
  3. The filtration is processed in three stages namely - ultrafiltration or glomerular filtration, selective reabsorption, and tubular secretion.
  4. The first step of urine formation takes place in the glomerulus, which is ultrafiltration or glomerular filtration.

(ii) Micturition:

  1. The process by which the urine is expelled out of the body is known as micturition or urination.
  2. The neural mechanism by which this process occurs is known as the micturition reflex.
  3. The urine is released out of the body through a thin muscular structure called the urethra.

(iii) Hematuria:

  1. Hematuria is a stage where the color of urine is slightly pink or red.
  2. This is because the urine gets released with the presence of some red blood cells (RBCs) or erythrocytes.
  3. This condition, hematuria may be a symptom of urinary tract infections or kidney stones.

Hence, the correct statements are:

(i) Glomerulus and ultrafiltration.
(ii) Micturition and urethra.
(iii) Hematuria and RBCs.
