Solution:
The government of India has three organs, as we discussed in our recap for the theory chapter. They are:
  • The Legislature
  • The Executive
  • And the Judiciary
  • The Parliament of India consists of the President and the two houses, namely, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
  • The Lok Sabha is also known as the Lower House, and the Rajya Sabha is also known as the Upper House.
  • The primary function of the Legislature is to make laws. In order to make a law, the approval of both Houses is a must.
  • Other functions include electoral functions, keeping the Executive in check, and playing an integral role in the process for passing of bills.
  • The Central Executive consists of the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Council of Ministers.
  • The main function of the Executive as a whole is to implement laws and administer the country.
  • The Judiciary in India has a hierarchical structure, where the Supreme Court is the apex court.
  • High Courts are the highest courts at the state level. Below them are the District and Subordinate Courts.
