Compute the gradient.

Given : y=x2+2x.

The abscissa are 1 and 3.

When x=1,

y=12+2

y=3

When x=3,
y=32+6

y=15

So the points are (1,3) and (3,15).

Gradient =(y2y1)(x2x1)

gradient=(153)(31)

gradient=122

gradient=6
