Solution

Let the number of teal buckets bought by Doug be xSince a total of 9 buckets are bought, so the number of yellow bucket bought by him is 9-xIt is given that a teal bucket holds 10 liters of water and a yellow bucket holds3 liters of water. So the amount of water which can be hold by x teal buckets =10xand the amount of water hold whcih can be hold by 9-x yellow buckets =39-xThe total amount of water all the buckets holds is 62 liters This implies that, 10x+39-x=62 10x+27-3x=62 7x=62-27 7x=35 x=5This implies that the number of teal buckets are 5and the number of yellow buckets are 9-5=4
