  1. When the hammer is lifted up then the work done by the person is being converted into potential energy.
  2. When the hammer is released then the potential energy of the hammer is converted into kinetic energy.
  3. When the hammer hit the nail then the kinetic energy is converted into heat energy and sound energy.
    Hence, The head of a nail becomes warm due to heat energy when it is hammered into a plank of wood.
