The heat of combustion of ethane is 1560kj/mol and that of methane is 890kj/mol. However the calorific value of methane is greater than ethane.

Calorific value not only depends upon heat of combustion but also on percentage of hydrogen.
In methane, % of hydrogen is 25
In ethane, % of hydrogen is 20
Since methane contains higher percentage of hydrogen, therefore it has higher calorific value than that of ethane.
