Solution

The correct option is A -18.69 KCal
Solution:- (A) 18.69kcal
CuSO4(s)+aq.CuSO4aq.ΔH=15.89kcal/mol.....(1)
CuSO4.5H2O+aq.CuSO4(aq.)+5H2OΔH=2.8kcal/mol
CuSO4(aq.)+5H2OCuSO4.5H2O+aq.ΔH=2.8kcal.....(2)
Adding eqn(1)&(2), we have
CuSO4(s)+aq.+CuSO4(aq.)+5H2O(l)CuSO4aq.+CuSO4.5H2O+aq.ΔH=(15.89)+(2.8)
CuSO4(s)+5H2O(l)CuSO4.5H2OΔH=18.69kcal
Hence the heat of hydration of anhydrous CaSO4 is 18.69kcal.
