$= π \times 12 (4^{2} - 2^{2})$

Surface area of the hollow cylinder $= 2 π r h + 2 π R h + 2 (π R^{2} - π r^{2})$
$= 2 π \times 2 \times 12 + 2 π \times 4 \times 12 + 2 (π 4^{2} - π 2^{2})$
$= 2 π (72 + 12)$
$= 168 π$ $c m^{2}$
