Shahtoosh is one of the finest, lightest and warm variety of wool obtained from Tibetan Antelope commonly known as Chiru. This animal lives in a very cold environment generally at an altitude of 5000 metres. Due to the great quality of shahtoosh wool, its demand was very high during the 20th century. Due to the increasing demand of this wool, the animal was being hunted all over the world. More hunting resulted in a drastic decrease in their number and very few animals are left today.
