Question

The horizontal range of a bullet fired at 45 is 1000 m. If it is fired from the lorry, in the direction of lorry's motion, which is moving at 10 m/s, with the same velocity and elevation, then find its range in metre (Take g=10 m/s2)
Take 2=1.414.

Solution

Range =u2 sin 2θg
1000=u210
u=100 m/s
Time of flight =2u sin θg
=2×100×1210
=102 sec
Extra Range = (Velocity of lorry) × time
=10×102
=141.42 m
Total Range =1141.42 m
