Question

The human ear can detect continuous sounds in the frequency range from 20Hz to 20kHz. Assuming that the speed of sound in air is 330m/s for all frequencies, calculate the wavelengths corresponding to the given extreme frequencies of the audible range.

Solution

From relation v=fλ
For frequency f=20 Hz
λ=vf
=33020
16.5 m
For frequency f=20000 Hz
λ=33020000
=16.5×103 m
=16.5 mm
