Solution

The correct option is A

thigmonastic

The non-directional movement of a plant in response to contact of an object is called thigmonastic movement. Insectivorous plants like Venus flytrap show movements on coming in contact with an insect. The touch of an insect is the stimulus that is transmitted to the entire leaf and all the leaf bends over the insect. Nyctinastic movement is caused due to the variations in light and temperature. It is also known as a sleeping movement. This movement is seen in hibiscus, tulips and poppies. Non-directional movement of a plant part usually in the petals of flowers in response to light is photonastic movement. For example, leaves of Oxalis triangularis open in bright light and droop in dim light. Thermonastic movements in plants occur due to the change in temperature. Flowers of a plant open with the rise in temperature and close with a drop in temperature.
