Solution

Let the income of A and B are Rs 3x and Rs 2x.Let the expenditure of A and B are Rs 5y and Rs 3yNow, according to question,3x - 5y = 1000 ......12x - 3y = 1000 .......2Multiply 1 by 2 and 2 by 3, we get6x - 10y = 2000 .......36x - 9y = 3000 .......4Subtracting 3 from 4, we get 6x-9y-6x-10y = 3000-2000y = 1000Put y = 1000 in 1, we get 3x - 51000 = 10003x - 5000 = 10003x = 6000x = 60003 = 2000So, the income of A = Rs 3x = 3×2000 = Rs 6000
