Question

The increase in the speed of a car is proportional to the additional petrol put into the engine .Is it possible to accelerate a car without putting more or less petrol in to the engine

Yes there are possibilities.If brakes are applied then due to friction heat is produced we can covert this heat to start the car.
You cannot accelerate car unless there is any traction between tyres and road, no matter how big engine is under the hood or how much fuel you put in it. ... Again because there's no friction the car will go on skidding without coming to a halt even if brakes are applied.
