  1. China rose (containing anthocyanin pigment, having purple colour) changes it's colour to pinkish red in acidic medium and green in alkaline medium.
  2. Turmeric (yellow in colour) remains yellow in acidic medium and turns into red colour in basic medium.
  3. Phenolphthalein a synthetic indicator does not undergo any colour change in acidic medium but it changes it's colour to pink in basic conditions.
  4. Thus both turmeric and phenolphthalein change their colour in basic medium but not acidic.
