The inner diameter of a cylindrical wooden pipe is 24cm and its outer diameter is 28cm. The length of the pipe is 35cm.Find the mass of the pipe, if 1cm3of wood has a mass of 0.6g.

Step 1: Find the volume wooden pipe

Let inner diameter of pipe =d1=24cm

Thus, r1=d12=242=12cm

Let outer diameter of pipe =d2=28cm

Thus, r2=d22=282=14cm

We have to find out the mass of the pipe if 1cm3 of wood has a mass of 0.6g

So, volume used to make wood = volume of outer cylinder – volume of inner cylinder

=π(r22)hπ(r12)h=π((r22r12)h=227×(142122)×35=227×(52)×35=5720cm3

Step 2: Find the mass

Now we have given that

1cm3=0.6g5720cm3=0.6×5720g=3432grams=3.432kg

[Since, 1000g=1kg]

Hence, the mass of the pipe, if 1cm3of wood has a mass of 0.6g=3.432kg.
