If a1 and a2 are the amplitudes, resultant amplitude a is given by
a2=a21+a22+2a1a2cosδ
where δ is the phase difference
Here δ=θ and a1=a2=a0
we get a2=2a20+2a20cosθ
a2=2a20(1+cosθ)
a2 is directly proportional to I Intensity of resultant wave.
Thus a20 is I0 Intensity of incident light.
I=2I0[1+cosθ]
