Solution

The correct option is C Transfusion tissue
In Gymnosperms, a single vascular bundle is present in the midrib region of the leaf. It is enclosed by a distinct endodermis or bundle sheath that is made up of barrel shaped parenchymatous cells. The vascular bundle is collateral with the phloem towards the lower epidermis and xylem towards the upper epidermis. A patch of lignified cells is present on either side of the xylem. They represent the transfusion tissue. A single layer of thin-walled cells interrupted by these patches constitutes the pericycle which also forms a part of the transfusion tissue. This tissue helps in conduction. Transfusion cells also occur external to the endodermis and make up for the deficiency of lateral veins.
So, the correct answer is option C.
