In the year 1864, British chemist John Newlands attempted to classify all the 62 elements known at that time. Based on his observations, he formulated a law known as Newland’s law of octaves. The law of octaves states when elements are arranged in the order of increasing atomic masses, the properties of the eighth element (starting from a given element ) are a repetition of the properties of the first element.
