Burette

Burette is a laboratory apparatus used to measure the volume of a liquid. It consists of a graduated glass tube with a stopcock at one end to control flow of the liquid.

  • The least value marked on graduated scale is known as least count. It can be described as the smallest value that can be measured by that instrument.
  • For example measuring scale has least count of 1 millimeter. Thermometer has least count of 1 degree Celsius.
  • Least count of burette is 0.1cm3.
